To clarify, I am familiar with Many features mentioned in the answer, such as “Show Key Assist” and “Quick Access”. I found that the only way I really got hands-on was to browse a list of items, such as Package Explorer or Open Resource dialog. I didn’t find any of the arrow keys Alternative methods to perform these operations.
This is not a replacement for the ALT arrow, but it can help Reduce the menu exploration you need to do in order to find the correct startup action.

I like to bind “Show Key Assist”, and “Quick Access” to convenient keys to get access A list of all menus/commands/views accessed in the context I am currently in.
