Policy from prototype to jQuery (rails)

I have an existing Rails application, I use Prototype to write a lot of js code, I want to make jQuery the javascript framework of the default application, and then migrate the existing Prototype code Into the equivalent code of jQuery.

What is your experience with this type of problem, or what strategies do you suggest me to use to make it as easy as possible: P.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
