I read in the manual that if I hold down Ctrl Home while starting the server, I can perform BIOS recovery from the flash drive.
I hold down these keys and hear the required two beeps, and I can see the activity LED on the flash drive activated. Unfortunately, instead of the display being turned on and allowing the BIOS to be restored as instructed in the manual, I listened To five beeps and three beeps shortly thereafter. I grabbed the latest BIOS from their website (x9scm2.508.zip) and unzipped it to my flash drive and renamed it as SUPER.ROM. If any ROM can be used as a SUPER.ROM file, or if I need a special SUPER.ROM file to start the recovery, then their instructions are not clear, then I can provide a known good ROM.
Does anyone have any expertise on ROM recovery for Supermicro boards? Did I miss some critical steps? Can any known good ROM file be recovered as a SUPER.ROM file?

After about six weeks of emailing back and forth with their technical support and trying something different from this board – I finally gave up on troubleshooting and just sent it for RMA and purchased a different board. Someone. Want to buy a refurbished Supermicro board?
