DHCP failover using two auxiliary server ISC-DHCP-Server

I am rearranging our network and doing some DHCP failover, because we have many machines, even servers, using DHCP to obtain IP addresses.

Today we have a good DNS topology with a master server and two slave servers. DHCP provides slave addresses for clients and only allows recursion on slave servers. With this in mind, I want to do something Something similar to DHCP.

The main ideia has a primary DHCP server and two secondary servers. But the problem arises: I don’t know if it is a supported feature and there is a way to Put a lot of DHCP loads only on auxiliary devices, I haven’t found it in the documentation yet.

With DNS, there is a concept of recursive and authoritative queries, so what you do there-usually called a hidden master-makes sense Yes. You have a hidden master data, a copy of the data, copy it, and only enable recursion on the slave server.

With DHCP, there is no such concept; the DHCP server either does not reply, grant or Reject the lease. Whether it is based entirely on its configuration and lease database, not whether the DHCP request is “recursive”.

Especially in ISC dhcpd, there is no concept of “master”. You can run with the same configuration And two DHCP servers for failover, but cannot run the “master” server and two “slave” servers.
