Project and frame matrix

Project is a new concept of PowerDesigner 15 , Through the project system analyst/designer can group models and various documents. The project can also include a framework matrix, which reflects the relationship between the various models in the form of a table.

The project and framework matrix solves the problem of how to manage the model in a unified way.

1. Create a framework matrix (FEAF-Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework)

Open PowerDesigner, select File->New Project, and open it as shown in Figure 1-1.

Click Frameworks->FEAF Project node in Project type, enter the project name and select storage Location, click OK to open the FEAF project workspace, as shown in Figure 1-2.

2. Define Business Objects (list of business objects)

Single Click on the Planner’s View row and the icon in the List of Business Objects grid in the What column to open the List of Business Objects window. Click the New Document button to open the Select an Object window, and click the New Model node, as shown in Figure 1-3.

Click the “OK” button to open the List of Entities ) Window, as shown in Figure 1-4.

Click Add a Row to add an entity to the list, the name is “library”, and the code is LIBRARY. Click OK to return to the List of Businss Objects window, drag the Status progress bar to 10%, indicating that the business object design progress has reached 10%, and change the CDM name under review to CDM_BO, as shown in Figure 1-5. At this time, in the upper right corner of the business object list grid in the project framework matrix, the model design progress will be displayed simultaneously. Click the window close button to return to the FEAF project workspace.

3. Define the Semantic Model

Click the Semantic Model grid icon in the What column of Ower’s View row, open the Semantic Model window, and then click the New Document button, select Generate from List of BO in the drop-down menu, and open Select an In the Object window, click the List of Business Objects->CDM_BO node, as shown in Figure 1-6.

Click the OK button to return to the CDM Generation Options window , Enter “CDM_Semantic” in the name, and click the “OK” button to open the CDM design window. Expand the Browser window on the left and notice that the entities defined in Business Objects have been automatically synchronized to Semantic CDM. Select the “library” entity, press the left mouse button and drag the “library” entity into the CDM diagram, as shown in Figure 1- 7 shown.

4. Grid Try to create other models in the model.
