Reset factory default settings – HP ProLiant DL360 Gen8

I have an HP Proliant DL360 gen8 server that seems to have the USB turned off in the B IOS. I want to enable it again.

After turning off the USB, I can’t Intervention during POST-the USB keyboard does not work. I tried to access the virtual keyboard via ILO 4 remote control, and it seems to use USB emulation… so this does not work either.

The server does not have a CD drive either. .

I tried:
1)Reset switch 6 to ON/OFF, but it will not clear the BIOS.
2)Remove the battery, no more help.
3) Connect to the ILO ssh server and send the’reset hard’ command…no change.

Does anyone know how to reset to factory defaults? (Via switch, jumper or other commands I can send via ILO ssh server)

btw: The’reset hard’ command seems to only reset the ILO, not the server configuration, nor the BIOS.

Thank you

I don’t know how the USB controller is in your system Disabled on… I would love to know what happened before you asked this question…

But you do have several ways to recover. Because there is no PS/2 on this series of servers Port, I guess keyboard input does not work. Is the operating system loaded? Do you suuuure that your keyboard/KVM switch is known-good?

Try the battery again. ProLiant DL360p Gen8 Server Maintenance and Service Guide indicates that the battery is the correct way to restore the system defaults.

You can also reset the system using the correct jumper sequence Settings.

>Remove all power supplies from the case
>Find the system maintenance switch on the motherboard-this is a set of 10 DIP switches.
>Turn on switch #6.
>Plug in all power supply units.
>Turn on the power of the server and leave it idle for 3 minutes.
>Turn off the power of the server.
>Remove all power supplies.
>Return DIP switch #6 to off ( Original) position.
>Reinsert the power source.
>Turn on the server power.
