FIRMware introduction

Firmware, also known as firmware, is software that is solidified in the hardware , it stores computer systemThe most basic parameters of the hardware equipment in the system provide the lowest and most direct hardware control for the system. For any embedded system, the firmware is an important part, because on a new platform, the firmware is usually the first piece of code to be transplanted and executed. For different systems, the firmware is very different. It can be a complete embedded system or just a simple initialization and boot loader.

Firmware is stored in the hardware, and its storage media mainly include ROM, PROM, EPROM, EEPROM and Flash Rom. Since it was stored in ROM in the early days, it cannot be changed once it is programmed, which is why it is called firmware.

Common firmwares known as bootloaders include RedBoot, U- Boot, ViVi, etc.
