Primefaces 3.1 overwriting panel errors on IE8

This question was previously posted on the Primefaces forum and I did not receive any answers.

I am trying to use Primefaces 3.1 because I need to override the panel function .
Unfortunately, in my Internet Explorer 8 (ie8), the following very simple overlay panel never shows up, and it works very well on Firefox 5.x.
The html code is the same as Some key points directly related to the Ie8 problem are as follows:
– The page does not need a vertical scroll bar (if the page has an overlay panel displayed)
– The height of the overlayPanel is fixed.
